SPOKEN WORD LIVE! Poetry Contest to Celebrate Literacy

Submitted: Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site
 
Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site, in partnership with the Arkansas Literacy Festival, Power 92 Jamz, and the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, a museum of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, will host the second annual Spoken Word Live! Poetry Contest.
 
The event will take place on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center. The event is free and open to the public. Mosaic Templars Cultural Center is located at 501 W. Ninth Street in Little Rock. Last year’s winner, Apollo, will host the event.
 
Applicants can submit original poetry via Power 92 Jamz radio station website at www.power923.com or in person at Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site visitor center or Mosaic Templars Cultural Center now through March 25, 2010. Finalists will be judged by local celebrities and have an opportunity to win savings bonds as follows: $500 first place, second place will receive $250 and third place will receive $150. Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site is located at 2120 Daisy L. Gatson Bates Drive, diagonally across the street from Central High School.
